Posture

Having good posture is not just about looking and feeling better.  It’s also about your overall health.  Poor posture can cause:

  1. Strain on the spine due to distortion, compression and misalignment.  That can cause neck pain, back pain and headaches.  Shoulder and hip joints with increased friction will wear prematurely.  Poor alignment of knees and ankles can leave you vulnerable to sprains and ligament tears.
  2. Digestive issues: improper alignment can compress organs, affecting their ability to function.
  3. Breathing problems: compression of rib cage can restrict airflow-leading to shallow breathing.
  4. Increased stress.  Pain can increase your stress levels and makes it harder for you to cope.  Also poor posture makes you more vulnerable to react to stressful situations.

By restoring and maintaining proper posture, you can prevent these issues.   Overall health is also helped.

So what does this have to do with Chiropractic care?  We focus on the relationship between your spine, nerve system and overall health.  Chiropractic adjustments help restore proper alignment and movement to your spine.

Some common posture issues that can be managed with Chiropractic care include:

  1. Forward head carriage-caused by looking down at screens/keyboards too long.
  2. Rounded shoulders-due to excessive sitting, hunching and poor desk and chair set up.
  3. Uneven hips-often resulting from carrying heavy bags on 1 shoulder, sitting with legs crossed and carrying a child on 1 hip.
  4. Knocked knees and flat pronated feet-caused by weak hips, weak feet and narrow/poor fitting shoes.

Chiropractors can correct posture issues by addressing imbalances in your spine and joints.  This leads to better overall performance whether you are working, exercising or doing the fun stuff on the week-end.

One of the key benefits of Chiropractic care is that it is safe and non-invasive alternative to surgery and drugs.  Instead Chiropractors focus on natural techniques that encourage the body to heal itself.  The risks and side effects associated with other approaches is avoided.

Regular Chiropractic care is a bit like regular dental care.  Checking your teeth and regular cleaning can reduce decay significantly.  By consistently correcting imbalances and ensuring proper alignment, Chiropractic care can help you avoid pain and discomfort as well as many of the other health risks associated with poor posture.
